MILPITAS (KRON) — A major crash involving several cars was causing a traffic backup on Interstate 880 in Milpitas, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident happened at around 5:26 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-880 at I-237, police said.
All northbound lanes were blocked. Traffic was at a standstill.
As many as 10 cars were involved in the crash, according to police. One of the cars caught fire.
CHP advised commuters to avoid the area and use city streets instead.
All lanes were reopened at around 6:50 a.m.
