SOLEDAD (BCN) — A man was fatally shot while playing video games outside his Soledad home early Thursday morning, police said.
The victim was 33-year-old Juan Francisco Rodriguez Gallo Jr., police Chief Eric Sills said.
Around 12:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of a person shot on a front porch at his home in the 200 block of Second Street, about two blocks away from Vosti Park, Sills said.
Arriving officers found a man, later identified as Gallo, shot in his side and upper torso, according to Sills.
Police performed CPR on Gallo, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene, the chief said.
In speaking with witnesses, officers learned Gallo was playing video games on his phone while sitting on a porch outside the residence where a man approached him, Sills said.
The men spoke with one another before the suspect took out a firearm from his jacket, shot Gallo and ran away, the chief said.
The suspect was described as a man who stood between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall and wore a dark hooded sweatshirt, Sills said.
