SOLEDAD (KRON) — A Soledad man was shot and killed while playing cell phone games outside his home early Thursday morning, according to police.
Around 12:30 a.m., officers responded to a report that someone had been shot on their porch in the 200 block of Second Street, police Chief Eric Sills said.
When offices arrived they found the victim with bullet wounds in his side and upper torso. Police attempted CPR on the man, but could not save him. The victim, identified as 33-year-old Juan Francisco Rodriguez Gallo Jr., died at the scene.
Witnesses told officers that Gallo was sitting on his porch playing video games on a cell phone when he was was approached by the shooter. The two men exchanged words before the suspect pulled a gun from his jacket, shot Gallo, and ran away.
The suspect is described as a man between 5 foot 6 and 5 foot 9 inches tall, and was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, Sills said.
