BERKELEY (KRON)—Customers at a Starbucks coffee shop in Berkeley helped police apprehend two suspects Saturday afternoon after one of them allegedly stole a woman’s laptop.

Officers responded to reports of a robbery at the store on Telegraph Ave. around 4:20 p.m.

Witnesses say they saw a man struggling with a woman after he tried stealing her laptop.

When he tried leaving the Starbucks with the laptop, another customer blocked the door. The suspect then pulled out a gun and the customer moved out of the way, police said.

The customer then followed the suspect outside and saw him leave on Ashby Avenue and got into a waiting car, police said.

After police gathered a description of the car from witnesses, officers were able to find the car near Ashby and Domingo avenues.

Once they were able to identify the robber, police searched the car and found the stolen laptop and a pellet gun.

The two people inside the car have been identified as Oakland residents Delamontae Stewart, 22, and Zachery Haliburton, 19.

Stewart and Haliburton were arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of stolen property.
