Person trespassing on Caltrain tracks struck, killed in San Mateo

SAN MATEO (KRON) — A person trespassing on the Caltrain tracks was struck and killed near Bellevue Avenue in San Mateo on Tuesday afternoon, according to Caltrain.

The collision happened at around 2:35 p.m. and it involved southbound train No. 152. It happened between the San Mateo and Burlingame Caltrain stations.


There were about 700 passengers on board the train. Riders should expect residual delays.

Trains had been single-tracking through the area at restricted speeds. Southbound #254 will be the first to pass through.

Trains are currently delayed up to 44 minutes.
