VIDEO: Police investigating series of robberies near El Cerrito BART stations

EL CERRITO (KRON) — Police are investigating a series of robberies near BART stations in the East Bay.

El Cerrito police say thieves are targeting people leaving BART and walking down the Ohlone Greenway path.

All the robberies happened between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.

And in all the incidents, the victims were approached by either two or four suspects and they were violent.

One victim was hit in the head with a two-by-four in the 1700 block of Lexington Avenue, according to police. He was taken to the hospital and will be OK.

The second victim was pushed up against a pillar, and her purse and phone were stolen, police said. This happened near Donal Avenue.

And another victim was pushed off his bike. The suspects were located near the Safeway in this case and taken into custody, police said. The suspects still had the victim’s property.

They were booked and then transported to juvenile hall.

The incidents happened near the El Cerrito Del Norte and El Cerrito Plaza stations.
