SONOMA COUNTY(KRON)—Two children and a parent were saved by a park ranger after being caught in the surf on Thursday at Goat Rock Beach just south of Jenner.
It happened just before noon when the ranger spotted the three people in the water.
She radioed the lifeguard, but the three people were already caught in high surf.
A 15-year-old boy went into the water and his 17-year-old sister and father followed him in.
The teenage boy was able to get out of the water on his own, but the teenage girl and the father had to be rescued by the lifeguard.
State parks performed artificial respirations on both people before the fire department arrived.
The daughter and father were taken to Sutter Hospital in Santa Rosa by helicopter.
