OAKLAND (BCN) — The driver of a minivan died when they crashed into a tree Wednesday night just off westbound Interstate Highway 580 in Oakland, California Highway Patrol officials said.
The crash was reported just after 10 p.m. on Highway 580 at the northbound state Highway 13 transition ramp.
An investigation revealed that a Toyota Sienna minivan collided with a Buick Encore. The driver of the Toyota lost control of the minivan, which left the road, overturned and hit a tree, CHP officials said.
The driver and passengers of the Buick stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers. CHP officials said they are looking into whether drugs or alcohol played a part in the collision.
