SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A 26-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly groping a 9-year-old girl on a BART train on Sunday afternoon, BART police said.
The incident happened at around 3:41 p.m. on a San Francisco-bound train near the Bay Fair Station, police said. The girl was sitting on the train when the man, identified as Marcus Brown, sat next to her and began touching her leg and buttocks, police said.
A family member of the victim intervened, and they went off the train at the Bay Fair Station to report the crime. The suspect stayed on the train, police said.
Officers caught up to the train at the Coliseum Station and detained Brown, according to police. Another witness told police about the alleged crime.
The victim was taken to the Coliseum Station where she identified the suspect, police said.
The suspect was interviewed at the Lake Merritt Station for questioning, and he was booked for sexual battery and annoying/molesting a child, police said.
A prohibition order was also issued, police said.
