Menlo Park police investigating attempted child abduction of 10-year-old boy

MENLO PARK (KRON) — Menlo Park police are investigating an attempted child abduction on Thursday, police said.

The alleged incident happened at around 3 p.m. Wednesday when a 10-year-old Menlo Park boy was walking home from Willow Oaks School, police said. A Hispanic male driving a cobalt pick-up truck near the intersection of Menalto Ave and O’ Connor Street then approached the boy, police said.

The man asked the boy to get into the truck, but the victim instead ran back towards the school, police said. A witness saw the boy frantically running and asked him if he needed help, according to police. The boy agreed and the witness drove him home.

No vehicle or suspect has been identified.

The suspect is described as being 40 to 50 years old, with dark brown hair and gray hair (salt and pepper). He had a small beard, police said.
