Watsonville man arrested after shattering police car windows

WATSONVILLE (KRON)- An arrest was made Wednesday afternoon after a man allegedly shattered the windows of two patrol cars and an office window at the Watsonville police headquarters.

At midnight, the office window at the police department, located at 215 Union St., was shattered by a large rock, according to police. The suspect was not caught.

A witness reported seeing 28- year-old Brian Thomas, from Watsonville, throwing rocks in the police department’s parking lot around 12:30 a.m.

Two patrol cars sustained broken windows, police said. Thomas escaped the scene by bicycle, but officers chased him east on Riverside Drive before arresting him on Riverside Road.

Thomas admitted to breaking the office window and a gate access control card reader earlier in the day, said police.

Total damages estimated to be over $1000 caused to the cars, card reader and the office window.
