ALAMEDA (KRON) — An off-duty Contra Costa County sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a home invasion robbery suspect in Alameda Wednesday.
Officers responded to a call of a home invasion at around 10:44 a.m. near the 2000 block of Buena Vista Avenue, according to Alameda Police Lieutenant Jill Ottaviano.
The alleged robber was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later died there.
The off-duty deputy was not hurt.
Earlier Wednesday, the Alameda Police department issued a shelter in place.
The shelter in place has been lifted, but officers advise residents to avoid the area.
Another suspect may still be at large, Ottaviano said.
Officers were at the scene collecting evidence and investigating the case Wednesday afternoon, she said.
