VIDEO: Person crashes into fire truck in Antioch, dies

ANTIOCH (KRON) — One person is dead after crashing their van into a fire truck in Antioch late Friday night.

The 47-year-old Antioch man smashed into the truck around 11:55 p.m. on Highway 4 near the Somersville exit.

The crash occurred as firefighters were clearing a non-injury collision from the highway that was reported around 11:26 p.m.

Three firefighters in the truck complained of injuries and one was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, according to CHP officials.

His current condition is unknown at this time.

The driver of the van died at the scene, CHP officials said.

Investigators don’t know yet whether drugs or alcohol played a part in the crash.

The name of the victim won’t be released until he has been identified and his family notified.

This is the second incident in recent months involving a car colliding into a fire truck, a fire official said.
