Created by Kimberlee Sakamoto on 3/26/2010 4:12:00 PM

SAN FRANCICSO (KRON) – KRON 4 is learning that San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and the city worker unions have reached a tentative agreement to avoid layoffs.

Officials have confirmed to KRON 4's Christine Connolly that the tentative deal includes 12 furlough days for employees and a five percent pay cut for employees.

During those furlough days the city will not shut down, it will operate with fewer workers.

The unions will vote on this proposal in about three weeks.

If this passes, the 17,000 pink slips that were sent out will be rescinded.

NO!!! to the compromise
the city has a $500 million deficeit. city employee furloughs saves the city only $10 million but the mayor and his adminstrations spends $490 million on programs that helps drug offenders/addicts find housing, needle exchange, etc..
