SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – A fundraiser is being held this weekend for the most critically injured victim in a brutal hit-and-run in San Francisco.
The attack happened June 2nd in a span of six minutes in the Mission and Potrero Hill neighborhoods in San Francisco.
Police say David Mark Clark of Albany targeted male bicyclists with his SUV. Clark has since pled not guilty.
Rolando Casajeros, known as Allen to friends, was the first biker hit. He tells KRON 4’s Christine Connolly he was riding home and was just a few feet away from his door when he was hit.
“I blacked out,” said Casajeros. “I know I flew up there and then bam, that’s it. I woke up like two nights after that. I have all these things in my mouth.”
The impact from the crash left the victim with serious head injuries. He endured 19 hours of intensive surgery due to a fractured face and jaw that had to be wired.
Casajeros tells Christine the pain is overwhelming and that he can hardly sleep due to all the intense pain.
Since Casajeros’ family is in the Philippines, friends are taking care of him.
And though he faces a long recovery, Casajeros tells Christine he knows he’s lucky to be alive.
Friends of Casajeros are holding the fundraiser to help pay for his recovery. It is scheduled for Sunday June 27th at the Old Clamhouse on 299 Bayshore Blvd. in San Francisco from 3 -11 p.m.
